A new service has been added at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital to help streamline the patient release process. After a horse has been approved for discharge, horse owners, farms and van service companies can now send an email to
vanpickup@roodandriddle.com to notify the discharge office 30-45 minutes in advance of their arrival. E-mails can be sent even earlier if the expected arrival time of the client’s trailer or van service is known. Upon receipt of notification, Rood & Riddle staff can have the horse, release paperwork and any needed medications ready to expedite the hospital discharge procedure and have clients quickly on their way.
Advance notice of at least 30 minutes enables the discharge personnel time to apply leg bandages, gather dispensed medications, and the necessary discharge information to minimize waiting time for someone picking up a patient. With less notice, especially during busy times of the day, it is not always easy to triage the hospital personnel to have everyone’s horse quickly prepared for departure. "While we can't always make this a 'pit stop' we realize that you have better things to do with your time than to wait on us to get your horse ready to load and leave,” states Rood & Riddle surgeon, Dr. Larry Bramlage. "If you give us some notice so we have time to get your horse ready, we will try to keep your time under your control. We appreciate your help in delivering the best possible patient care. We'll try to show it by getting you on your way as soon as possible."
The new client service was activated December 15
th and is available for all patients that have been approved for discharge.
