SURGERY DEPARTMENT LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Technicians provide pre-operative care for surgery patients, assist the anesthesia team with pre-operative physicals and induction, maintain operating room stock and sterilization. Technicians will also assist surgeons while maintaining sterile and aseptic technique and ensure surgical instrumentation is kept appropriately.

  • Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods.
  • Teamwork and communication are essential in this facility.
  • The candidate must be flexible with hours and willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Must have previous equine experience with horses other than their own.
 Job Type: Full-time
The hours are daytime Monday – Friday.

RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT TECHNICIAN
  • -Excellent horse handling and restraining skills for all breeds and ages are required
  • -Knowledge of equine anatomy and medical terminology is strongly preferred
  • -Must have the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment with multiple clinicians.
  • -This job is physical and requires long periods of standing and occasional jogging, working with all services
  • -Minimum age- 18 years old

PART-TIME SEASONAL HELP

 Part-time seasonal help starting mid-January 2022 to handle patients and general equine duties in a fast-paced environment. The hours and department vary from day to day. Weekday positions typically start mid-morning and end in the late afternoon. Weekend hours begin early morning and end in the early afternoon.

1st SHIFT ADMISSIONS/ PATIENT CARE SPECIALIST
Looking for advanced and enthusiastic horse handlers to provide excellent patient and client care!

Basic horse care knowledge and horse handling experience are a must. Experience with Thoroughbred racehorses favored.

Customer Service/Client Relations job experience(s) favored.
Full-time position with great benefits to include health insurance, overtime pay, retirement benefits.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely and expertly handle horses while loading/unloading to/from the trailer.
  • Deliver individualized, quality client care by providing exceptional assistance to meet all customer needs. This entails continuing communication with waiting clients throughout the duration of their stay at the clinic and providing new clients with tours of our facility and the various diagnostic tools the clinic offers.
  • Must be able to identify and flag patients in need of immediate medical attention (i.e. suspect colic, cast in the stall, etc.) and alert veterinarians in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Physical: Position requires prolonged periods of fast-paced walking and standing.  Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Daily physical demands include squatting, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling horses & equipment to accomplish required duties. Vision must be correctable to 20/30. All job duties to be performed year-round and during inclement weather conditions.
  • Behavioral: Individuals should be self-motivated and maintain a high productivity level. He/she should demonstrate the ability & desire to work within a team environment by supporting co-workers. Individuals should have a thorough work ethic in order to meet quality RREH standards by adhering to safety & biosecurity protocol. He/she must be able to perform effectively under fast-paced circumstances while paying attention to careful detail.  Excellent communication and people skills are a must in order to provide superior client care services.
  • Organizational and Communicative:  Should be detail-oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities both independently and with co-workers. Must demonstrate effective time management, comprehend, and follow oral instructions. Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English in order to communicate information with RREH veterinarians, co-workers & clientele.

EQUINE RECOVERY ASSISTANT

This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.  This position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of horse handling experience other than their own horses.  Previous experience with thoroughbreds is required.  The hours are daytime, generally Monday through Friday with seasonal overtime requirements.  The hours will have a set start time but require a flexible end time. This position is physically taxing, and candidates must be able to consistently lift 75-125 lbs.  Knowledge of English and Spanish is required.

EQUINE AMBULATORY ASSISTANT

Immediate opening for two assistants. These are daytime, mostly full-time, with competitive benefits.  There is a set start time for the day but the end time varies based on the veterinarian’s schedule and time of year.  Hours are mostly Monday through Friday with a few weekends a year required or Friday through Sunday.  Assistants will primarily be assigned to one veterinarian and will travel to farms throughout Central Kentucky and assist with various procedures.  Previous horse handling experience is required.

EQUINE UNDERGRADUATE INTERN

These positions will be seasonal and will start in January 2022 and go through July 2022. There will be positions available in nursing and ambulatory, with most of the available positions in the nursing department.
