VETERINARY TECHNICIANS
LICENSED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN – EQUINE ANESTHESIA
This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.  This position requires candidates to have a current veterinary technician license (with the ability to obtain licensure in Kentucky) as well as a minimum of two years of equine handling experience.  The hours are daytime, mainly Monday through Friday with a set start time and require a flexible end time.  Overtime hours during certain months of the year will be required.  Applicant must be knowledgeable in medical terminology, medications, anesthetics agents, ventilators, anesthesia monitoring equipment and surgical equipment.  Previous anesthesia experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right licensed candidate.  Candidate must be able to lift 50-75lbs consistently and stand for long periods of time.  Teamwork and communication are essential for this position.  No phone calls please.  To apply and be considered, please submit resume with detailed veterinary technician and horse handling experience to hr@roodandriddle.comNo phone calls please.

RECOVERY ASSISTANT

This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.  This position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of horse handling experience other than their own horses.  Previous experience with thoroughbreds is required.  The hours are daytime, generally Monday through Friday with overtime requirements.  The hours will have a set start time but require a flexible end time. CLINICIAN ASSISTANT

This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.  This position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years horse handling experience other than their own horses.  Experience with Thoroughbreds or Standardbreds preferred.   The hours are daytime, generally Monday through Friday with some overtime requirements and occasional weekend hours.  The hours will have a set start time and require a flexible end time.  Ability to self-start and work independently, as well as work well with others is a must.  Time management is an essential skill for this position.  Must be capable of lifting 50-75 lbs consistently as well as standing for long periods of time.  The ability to safely jog with horses of all ages in hand is required.   Medical terminology, knowledge of equine medications and anatomy preferred.  No phone calls please.  To apply and be considered, please submit resume with detailed previous horse handling experience to hr@roodandriddle.com.   No phone calls please.

 
NURSING STAFF ASSISTANT
This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.  Nursing staff assistants must be available for at least 36 to 48 hours a week (depending on the time of year) and have a flexible schedule.  The shifts are from 5:30am to 6pm or 5:30pm to 6am.  A minimum of one weekend shift per week is required. During the months of March through May, in addition to the one weekend shift per week, one full weekend a month is required.  Nursing assistants will work with a variety of patients under the supervision of experienced doctors and nurses.  Patient care is the main responsibility of this position and will vary depending on the needs of the patients.  Starting dates for this position will vary from November 2019 through January 2020.  Year-round and seasonal positions are available.  A minimum of two years previous horse handling experience is required.  Previous experience with Thoroughbred or Standardbreds preferred.  No phone calls please.  To apply and be considered, please submit resume with previous detailed horse handling experience to hr@roodandriddle.comNo phone calls please.
 
AMBULATORY ASSISTANT
These are daytime, mostly full-time seasonal positions with competitive benefits, but a few part-time, weekend only positions are also available.  Ambulatory assistants will be given a daily start time but must have a flexible end time depending on the veterinarian’s schedule.  Days of the week vary according to each veterinarian’s need, but all will consist of Monday through Friday (full-time) or Saturday and Sunday (part-time).  Assistants will primarily be assigned to one veterinarian and will travel to farms throughout central Kentucky and assist with a variety of procedures. UNDERGRADUATE INTERN
