EQUINE RECOVERY ASSISTANT

This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.  This position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of horse handling experience other than their own horses.  Previous experience with thoroughbreds is required.  The hours are daytime, generally Monday through Friday with seasonal overtime requirements.  The hours will have a set start time but require a flexible end time. This position is physically taxing, and candidates must be able to consistently lift 75-125 lbs.  Knowledge of English and Spanish is required.  No phone calls please.  To apply and be considered, please submit resume with previous detailed horse handling experience to hr@roodandriddle.com. This position starts near the end January.

EQUINE AMBULATORY ASSISTANT

These are daytime, mostly full-time seasonal positions with competitive benefits, but a few part-time, weekend only positions are also available. Ambulatory assistants will be given a daily start time but must have a flexible end time depending on the veterinarian’s schedule. Days of the week vary according to each veterinarian’s need, but all will consist of Monday through Friday (full-time) or Saturday and Sunday (part-time). Assistants will primarily be assigned to one veterinarian and will travel to farms throughout central Kentucky and assist with a variety of procedures. These positions will start January 2021 and applicants must be able to work through July 2021. Previous horse handling experience is required as is a valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance. EQUINE NURSING STAFF ASSISTANT
This is a full-time position with competitive benefits. Nursing staff assistants must be available for at least 36 to 48 hours a week (depending on the time of year) and have a flexible schedule. The shifts are from 5:30am to 6pm or 5:30pm to 6am. A minimum of one weekend shift per week is required. During the months of March through May, in addition to the one weekend shift per week, one full weekend a month is required. Nursing assistants will work with a variety of equine patients along with an experienced team of nurses and doctors. Patient care is the main responsibility of this position and will vary depending on the needs of the patients. Starting dates for this position will vary from November 2020 through January 2021. Year-round and seasonal positions are available. A minimum of two years previous horse handling experience is required. Previous experience with Thoroughbred or Standardbreds preferred. There will be positions available in nursing and ambulatory, with most of the available positions in the nursing department.
