VETERINARIANS

Fellowship in Reproduction Department, Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, Lexington, KY.

The LeBlanc Reproduction Center is offering a one year fellowship in the reproduction department beginning on or about         June 15, 2018.  The position involves assisting our three boarded theriogenologists ( Drs. Etta Bradecamp, Maria Schnobrich, and Charlie Scoggin) in clinical case management and recipient herd management.  The fellow will have exposure and experience assisting in advanced reproductive procedures including embryo transfer, oocyte aspiration, semen processing for shipment and cryopreservation, hysteroscopy, oviduct flushing, and routine breeding management.  Applications will be due October 26, 2017 to Starlee Smith by email at:  ssmith@roodandriddle.com.

Fellowship in Equine Internal Medicine, Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, Lexington, KY.
Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital is seeking applicants for one fellowship position in equine internal medicine.  It is anticipated that this will commence on or about February 1st, 2018.  The fellowship would suit individuals with an interest in neonatal intensive care and referral medicine practice.  Duties would include day and night emergency duty, outpatient receiving and management of hospitalized medicine cases.  Salary for the five month position is pro-rated from the amount of $30000 per annum.  The position will end on June 30th, 2018.

NURSING STAFF TECHNICIANS
Nursing staff technician candidates must be available for at least 36-48 hours a week (during our peak months) with a flexible schedule as Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shifts are from 5:30 am to 6 pm and 5:30 pm to 6 am. 
Job responsibilities include working with hospitalized patients under the supervision of experi­enced nurses and will be exposed to a variety of medical and surgical cases. Duties vary from barn to barn and involve working with horses of all ages, breeds, and uses. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: sitting with neonatal foals, preparing and administering medications, monitoring vital signs, administering fluids and medications, and performing basic laboratory tests.
 
AMBULATORY TECHNICIAN POSITION
Job responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with equipment and a variety of procedures including breeding management, radiography, foal medicine, lameness examinations, and emergency calls.  They are also responsible for cleaning and stocking the vehicle, paperwork, and submitting laboratory work.  Hands on horse experience is required.  We have full and part-time (weekends) positions available in this department.  A valid driver’s license and proof on insurance is also required.   These positions are seasonal starting in January and going through the middle to end of July.

SURGERY TECHNICIAN POSITION
Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital (Lexington, KY) has a full time position available in the surgery department. The surgery staff hours are Monday – Friday 40 hours/week. Technician will provide operative care for surgery patients, maintain operating room stock and sterilization, maintain sterile and aseptic technique, be familiar with equine surgical instrumentation and must have experience handling horses.  Candidate must also be able to lift up to 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
