Intracytoplasmic sperm injection, or ICSI, is an in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure in which a single sperm is injected directly into an egg. This advanced reproductive technique is useful when a mare has problems that prevent her conceiving and carrying a foal, and when semen is in limited supply or has fertility issues. Preservation and continuance of rare genetics is also made possible.
